Women's Winter Festival 2024 Embraces High-Stakes Poker Competition
The Women's Winter Festival 2024, scheduled to take place from November 21 to 24 at the Hippodrome Casino in London, is set to be a significant event for female poker players. The festival aims to make the event unmissable for poker enthusiasts, particularly women, by offering a range of tournaments, including a high roller tournament with a buy-in of $1,192 (β¬1,120.48).
One of the highlights of the festival will be the women-only high roller tournament. This tournament, which will take place on November 21, is expected to attract 162 players. Notable participants in similar women-only events are likely to be present, such as Jen Shahade, a key figure in Women's Poker events who has previously won the Women's Summer Festival Main Event in 2025.
The festival will also feature a Β£400 Main Event, a single re-entry tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of Β£100,000 (β¬115,000). Eliminated players in this tournament will have the opportunity to re-enter once.
Another unique aspect of the festival is the NLH 50/50 Freezeout, scheduled for November 23rd. This tournament will follow the Texas Hold'em tournament format and introduce an innovative twist: a woman and a man will compete as a pair in different rounds, and the points of both players will be added together as the final result.
CΓ©dric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events Operations at PokerStars, has emphasized the importance of offering high roller tournaments for women at the Women's Winter Festival 2024. Kerryjane Craigie, PokerStars ambassador and poker director at the Hippodrome, has stated that the festival aims to improve the game of poker for women and provides more variety for players.
The high roller tournament winner will secure a spot at the European Poker Tour in Prague from December 4 to 15. The festival's high participation and player development focus underscore the presence of many skilled female players competing that year.
In addition to the high roller tournament and the Main Event, the Women's Winter Festival 2024 will offer the NLH 50/50 Freezeout on November 23rd. This tournament, with its innovative pairing format, promises to add an exciting element to the festival.
